航空業界では、労働時間が短縮されれば木・金曜日出発の週末旅行が可能になるため「国内旅行や日本・中国・東南アジアなど短距離海外旅行の需要が増える」と予想している。
韓国では2004年７月に週休２日制が導入され、航空機による週末の旅行需要が急増した。05年の旅客数は2,981万5,000人で前年比10.2％増加し、06年も２桁増を記録していた。
14年には振り替え休日制が施行され、旅行需要の増加を後押しした。
