香港鉄路（ＭＴＲ）を運営する香港鉄路公司（ＭＴＲＣ）は26日、30億米ドル（約4,500億円）の米ドル建て債券を発行すると発表した。同社の公募債としては過去最大規模となる。
５年物を５億米ドル、10年物を10億米ドル、30年物を15億米ドルそれぞれ起債する。利回りは4.375～5.250％。134億米ドルを超える購入希望が寄せられた。
ＭＴＲＣは路線網の拡張やインフラの更新に向けた資金調達を計画しており、今回の債券発行はその一環。ＭＴＲＣのファイナンス・ディレクターを務めるマイケル・ジョージ・フィッツジェラルド氏は「今後の重大な投資に必要な資金の確保に貢献するものだ」とコメントした。
