自動運転技術を手がけるティアフォー（東京都品川区）は17日、同業の台湾のスタートアップ企業のターニングドライブに出資し、資本業務提携を締結したと発表した。自動運転技術の開発促進と台湾やアジアを含む海外事業展開を強化する。
今回の提携により、ティアフォーはターニングドライブの技術と知見を活用し、拡張可能な自動運転ソフトウエアプラットフォーム「Pilot.Auto」の技術開発を加速させる。
ティアフォーはオープンソースの自動運転ソフトウエア「Autoware」を基盤とした「Pilot.Auto」を開発・提供。特に工場内での無人搬送システムや自治体向けの自動運転バス、ロボットタクシー、高速道路の自動運転トラックなど、さまざまな分野での実用化を推進している。
ターニングドライブは、特殊車両向けの自動運転技術を開発し、空港や港湾、工場、商業施設などの閉鎖空間や低速領域での活用を強みとしている。
