フィリピンの鉄鋼最大手スチール・アジア・マニュファクチャリングは４日、大規模な溶解処理工場をマニラ首都圏南方のバタンガス州に建設すると発表した。2024年の稼働を予定している。
同州レメリーに設置される同工場では、国内で回収した鉄スクラップを溶解、精錬し、建材などに使われる高品質の鋼片を生産する。工場はイタリアの鉄鋼・工業用設備メーカー、テノバの技術を採用しており、温室効果ガスの排出を低水準に抑える。
